Why Evolved Pros Exists

The story behind the portal, the podcast, the community, the events, the academy — and the book.

There's a radio booth in a small Saskatchewan town where a teenager is calling a hockey game he has no business calling. No degree. No training. A sheet of line changes and the nerve to talk to people he can't see. Between periods, he's selling the ads too — because at a hometown station, the kid doing play-by-play is the same kid closing the local dealer on a spot package.

That kid learned something early. It took him thirty years to understand all of it: the medium was never the point. The people on the other side of it were.

I built a career on that. Then I almost ended it on the same instinct, pointed the wrong direction.

I'm a Pioneer-Driver. Wired for energy, momentum, the hit of the next thing. That engine built sales organizations. It also ran my life into the ground for years while I told myself a story about ambition. I weighed close to 400 pounds. There was one chair in my house that could hold me without pain, and I called it a preference. It wasn't a preference. It was logistics.

Here's the part I had wrong, and I had it wrong for a long time: I thought the problem was me. My discipline. My willpower. The contents.

The problem was never the contents — the ambition, the energy, the drive were always there. The problem was the container. I didn't have one built to hold what I was trying to carry.

I lost 220 pounds. Two hip replacements. No surgery for the weight, no medication, no program sold by someone who needed me to stay a customer. Fifteen years of one percent, compounding. Not because I finally found motivation — motivation is the least reliable thing I own — but because I stopped relying on it. The more I operate my life by design — with rules, systems, and non-negotiables — the better the outcomes. Every time. Without exception.

That's not a weight-loss story. That's the whole argument. And it's the same argument I'd been making in boardrooms the entire time without realizing the two were one.

Because here's what was happening on the other side of my life while I was rebuilding the man.

I built a 250-person, world-class, customer-facing team from scratch in Saskatchewan — a place where, at the time, software companies were "not a thing." I hosted 250+ episodes of a top-10 iTunes podcast that reached professionals in 50+ countries. At Harvard Media I helped lead the digital transformation of a traditional media company — a business built for a world that was disappearing — which is a polite way of saying we rebuilt the plane while flying it. At AdCellerant I ran partnerships across three continents and learned that what works in Denver does not automatically work in Johannesburg.

Different rooms. Same lesson every time: the people who plateau aren't short on talent or desire. They're short on architecture. The structure that turns effort into compounding results.

And somewhere in the media years, back when streaming was still an argument and not a fact, I made a bet that everything I'm building now sits on top of: if we produce it in video, we get the audio for free. Capture once, at the highest fidelity, and the same moment becomes the show, the clip, the post, the keynote, the chapter. Most people are still producing for one channel and wondering why their reach doesn't compound. The medium was never the point. The container is.

So when people ask why I built Evolved Pros instead of just writing the book and moving on, this is the honest answer: a book can't hold a transformation. Neither can a post, or a keynote, or a single great conversation. Sustained growth happens in the repetition, the measurement, and the iteration — with genuine curiosity about whether you hit the mark or whether there's further to go. That needs a structure built to run over time, not a moment built to go viral.

I didn't build a product. I built the container I never had. Evolved Pros is The Evolved Architecture™ made public — the six pillars, turned into something you can actually live inside.

The Online Media Portal is the home that isn't rented. Harvard Media taught me what happens when you build your whole life on a platform somebody else owns. So this is owned ground — the room where everything lives, on our terms.

The Weekly Podcast is the question engine. 250+ episodes taught me how to ask the questions. EVOLVED taught me which ones matter. Trust isn't built in a launch — it's built every week, in the open, on YouTube | Spotify | Apple | X.

The Community is the Inner Circle pillar, made real. You do not evolve alone. The most important relationship choices you'll ever make aren't the obvious ones, and accountability that lives only in your own head isn't accountability — it's a wish.

The LIVE Events are the room. I've spent a career learning that transformation accelerates when you're physically in it — still learning, always in the room. Some things don't transfer through a screen, and I'm not going to pretend they do.

The Academy is the architecture turned into a curriculum. The six pillars aren't inspiration — they're a practice. Something you rep, measure, and improve, until the growth becomes structural instead of occasional.

And EVOLVED — The Slow, Hard, Beautiful Work of Becoming, out July 15 — is the spine that runs through all of it. The unfiltered version of how a man got out from under 400 pounds and his own ambition, and what he found in the architecture on the way up.

I built this for the professional who feels the gap between their capacity and their output and has been told, wrongly, that the fix is to want it more. It isn't. The fix is to build the container.

That's the whole thing. That's why Evolved Pros exists.

There is no ceiling.
